Princess Madeleine found happiness, at last, with Christopher "Chris" O'Neill. They got married on June 8, 2013 in Sweden. Exactly a year later, on June 8,  they christened their daughter, Princess Leonore, Duchess of Gotland.

 

Princess Madeleine of Sweden moves in with her boyfriend in New York

Princess Madeleine of Sweden is ready to take her relationship with boyfriend Chris O’Neill to the next level. According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, Madeleine and Chris will move into a four-bedroom luxury apartment in Manhattan together.

The Princess moved to New York almost two years ago to start over after splitting from her fiancé and boyfriend of eight years, Jonas Bergström.

Her ex was last seen with his new girlfriend, Stephanie af Klerker, an old friend of Madeleine’s, at the wedding of Robin af Byren and Tin-Tin Rosén: Emma Pernald, Prince Carl Philip's ex, and her new boyfriend Tomas Jonson also attended the nuptials.

Although financial adviser Chris has been properly introduced to the royal family, the news of Madeleine moving in with him apparently hasn't gone down too well with her parents.

With eldest daughter Crown Princess Victoria now on maternity leave, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia were hoping Madeleine would take over some of her duties, but her permanent residency in the US means this will prove difficult.

According to Expressen, Madeleine has told her parents she does not want to take over any of her sister’s duties and has no intention of leaving New York where she has forged a new life for herself.

I mean, it's very normal & frequent to see these family in a happy mood but it's even better to see Madeleine smiling this way with her brother-in-law after all she has been through. I don't know if the rumors of a new love are true or not, but I hope she is nothing less than happy from now on. Don't we all which the same for ourselves?

Princess Madeleine of Sweden Finds East Village Prince Charming

Last April, Princess Madeleine of Sweden got some bad news. According to a gossip rag, her dashing lawyer fiancé, Jonas Bergstrom, had cheated on her with a 21-year-old Norwegian handball player. Within a few days, Madeleine had ended the relationship of eight years and hopped on a plane to New York to hide out and recover "for a few weeks." (She returned, of course, to witness her elder sister Princess Victoria's glamorous wedding, which was surely a delight for her.) Almost a year later, she's still here — and apparently, she's found her prince charming. Chris O'Neill, a financial adviser and son of socialite Eva O'Neill, has been spotted squiring Madeleine around town. One tourist videotaped the two at the Central Park Boathouse engaging in some light petting. (Literally — she pets his arm. That's it.) According to "Page Six," a source says "she is always happy when she is with him." Neighbors of O'Neill tell the tabloid they've seen the pair "canoodling" at his East Village townhouse.

Does it matter that O'Neill's not a royal himself? Not to the Swedes, apparently. Last summer Crown Princess Victoria married her trainer, Daniel Westling. Her brother, Prince Carl Philip, is reportedly dating a reality-TV star who is also a topless model.

American mogul makes princess his Swede-heart

An affair between downtown moneyman Christopher O'Neill and his uptown girl -- the gorgeous Princess Madeleine of Sweden -- has become the hottest gossip of Stockholm's long, cold winter.

O'Neill, a 36-year-old millionaire who dispenses financial advice to super-wealthy clients, is "in a love affair" with his 28-year-old Swedish dish, a source close to the couple told The Post.

A Spanish tourist armed with a cellphone took a video of the lovebirds at the Central Park Boathouse that has become an Internet sensation in the Nordic nation. Madeleine, the height of style in a white fur vest, is seen affectionately rubbing O'Neill's arm.

"She is always happy when she is with him," the source said.

Madeleine, a k a the duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland, is the daughter of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

O'Neill's family also has a regal connection -- his mother, Eva, has dated Prince Charles, according the Swedish tabloid Aftonbladet.

While Madeleine's romance has flown under the radar here, pictures of O'Neill with gorgeous women -- in one 2008 photo he is seen posing with lingerie model Maryam Abdullina on a yacht -- appear occasionally on society Web sites.

O'Neill did not return phone calls, and no one answered the door at his East Village residence, where neighbors say they've spotted the couple canoodling.

Madeleine made headlines in April by calling off her wedding to lawyer Jonas Bergstrom after he reportedly cheated on her with a 21-year-old co-ed at a ski resort.

Afterward, the scorned royal moved to the Upper East Side.

She's since been linked to Paris Hilton's ex, Greek playboy Stavros Niarchos, and to a fellow Swede, Ranger goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.

[Sweden] Poll says that Swedes want king to step down in the next ten years

Nearly two-thirds of Swedes would like to see King Carl XVI Gustaf abdicate and hand the throne over to his daughter Princess Victoria, according to a new poll published on Saturday.

Sixty-three percent of those surveyed by the Aftonbladet newspaper said they would like to see the king make way for the 33-year-old princess within the next 10 years. Only 30 percent said he should reign until his death, while the remaining seven percent did not offer an opinion.

Fifteen percent of the 1,000 respondents said the king should step down as soon as possible, 27 percent said he should go within the next five years and 21 percent within the next decade.

The poll comes after the recent publication of a tell-biography of the king which included details of his affairs with a string of younger women, including Camilla Henemark, the lead singer with the Army of Lovers pop group.

The 64-year-old king acceded to the throne in 1973 when he was just 27.

Other members of the Swedish royal family have also found themselves the target of lurid tabloid reporting in recent months, including Prince Carl Philip who has been romantically linked to a reality TV star.

Princess Madeleine, the younger daughter of King Carl and Queen Silvia, broke off her engagement with her long-time boyfriend in April after it emerged that her fiancee had had an affair with a Norwegian woman.

Her older sister Victoria, who married her former fitness instructor in the summer, is the most popular member of the royal family, according to the poll.

While 56 percent said she was their favourite royal, only eight percent nominated Carl Gustaf.

The monarchy as an institution however remains popular with 74 percent of those surveyed supporting its continuation.

Princess Madeleine just spent a couple of days working in South Africa

South Africa is one of my favorite countries in the world, so anytime it is in the spot light (for good reasons) I feel refueled with joy!

Past week news about Swedish princess Madeleine. The young royal has lately focussed her energy and attention on charity work, a subject near and dear to her heart. Looking radiant in an olive-green gown, she attended the World Childhood Foundation’s charity dinner in Cape Town, South Africa. The foundation was established by Madeleine’s mother, Queen Silvia in 1999 and is aimed at supporting children at risk around the world. The princess will be in the African nation for a four day visit with the organisation which will include filming a documentary.

Prince Daniel looking relaxed in new royal role on first post-honeymoon appointment

It was his first official appearance as Prince Daniel, Duke of Vastergotland. But Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden's new husband looked like a complete pro. Relaxed and smiling, he waved at crowds as he joined the rest of the Swedish royal family in celebrating 200 years of the House of Bernadotte being on the throne. And he proved himself the perfect gentleman, holding an umbrella over his wife as they walked towards the steps of Orebro Castle, central Sweden, where they were to attend a dinner. Daniel's easy and confident manner in the spotlight is something which he has built up over time since his first official appearance with Victoria. That was in March 2009 when he accompanied the Princess – his then fiancée – to her name day celebrations. Nearly a year and a half later and Daniel is clearly settling into his new royal role after marrying the crown princess on June 19. He certainly looked like one of the family as he stood with his parents-in-law King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia and brother and sister-in-law Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine for a group photograph.

Since I am a little girl, I am kinda obsessed on how tanned Madeleine always looks. Physical appearance aside, I think it's really funny they celebrated Crown Princess Victoria's birthday without her.

Princess Madeleine goes back to work

Twenty-eight-year-old Madeleine will attend her first official event since the separation was announced in late April, hosting a charity gala in London for her mother's organisation Childhood, according to the Expressen daily.

"We are glad that she is coming," Childhood USA executive director Charlotte Brandin told the newspaper. "We will have paying guests who want to know more about the organisation."

Madeleine will represent Sweden and Childhood at the function. Around 200 people are invited and there will be dancing, dinner and a charity auction.

Madeleine travelled to the US at the end of April to fulfil a series of engagements and to escape the media glare after revelations over Bergström's alleged dalliance with a Norwegian handball player.

Calls from the palace to leave the princess in peace as she adjusted to life without her erstwhile fiancé fell on deaf ears, however, as Scandinavian media were joined at Newark International Airport by international paparazzi photographers.

Princess Madeleine's engagement book was scheduled to keep her in the US until May 9th, with a lengthy spell at the World Childhood Foundation, an organization founded by her mother Queen Silvia, ending with the trip to Seattle.

However, a heartbroken Madeleine never made the trip to Seattle, with Crown Princess Victoria attending instead. Last month, the Royal Court confirmed that the princess had decided to take a time out from official engagements before attending her sister's wedding.

Madeleine returned to Sweden just days before the June 19th nuptials, but appeared in good spirits as she enjoyed the day in the glare of the Swedish public and the world's media.

Princess Madeleine, and Bergström, a 31-year-old Stockholm lawyer announced their engagement in August. The news took many royal watchers in Sweden by surprise coming so soon following her big sister's news. The pair announced their split in late April after an often-stormy eight-year relationship.

Queen Margrethe's birthday gala and Princess Madeleine of Sweden's absence

Arm in arm with her fiancé Daniel Westling, and with her brother Prince Carl at her side, Crown Princess Victoria was wearing her usual radiant smile as the trio attended Queen Margrethe's birthday celebrations.

But there was no sign of the other Swedish sibling, Princess Madeleine, or her fiancé Jonas Bergstrom, who are said to be in the midst of a relationship crisis.

A question mark had been hanging over the couple's attendance after a spate of stories stating they are on the brink of splitting up and have been living separate lives since January.

There was no official word on why they weren't at the event – an evening at the theatre – though it is possible they could have been amongst the group of royals affected by the travel chaos caused by the volcanic ash cloud currently hovering over Europe.

Those who were unable to make it included Victoria and Madeleine's parents Queen Silvia and King Carl Gustaf, and Norway's King Harald and Queen Sonja.

Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway arrived without her husband, Crown Prince Haakon. His plane was grounded in London and he was expected to arrive by car, late on Thursday.

She was kept company as she arrived at the theatre in Copenhagen by Crown Princess Mary and her husband Frederik.

Some 1,200 guests were in attendance, and well-wishers gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the royal invitees, who also included Prince Joachim and Princess Marie – stunning in a silk scarlett gown.

But the biggest cheer of the night was reserved for Queen Margrethe, a vision in an elegant emerald green dress.

Celebrations were due to continue on Friday with a banquet lunch hosted by the city of Copenhagen and a dinner at Fredensborg Palace.

Victoria and her siblings join national day celebrations

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden headed up her country's National Day celebrations with gusto this week. The future queen donned a Swedish folkdraft - the traditional flower-embroidered pinafore worn over a white blouse - to join in the celebrations.Equally enthusiastic - especially since National Day became an official holiday in 2005 - were her fellow Swedes, who turned out to give their princess a warm welcome wearing the blue and yellow of the Swedish flag. And one youngster further added to Victoria's colourful ensemble by presenting her with a bouquet of summer blooms. While the rest of her family celebrate in the capital, each year the Crown Princess visits a different part of Sweden to join in the festivities. This year she was in the spa resort of Lundsbrunn. Back in Stockholm her royal siblings had their own part to play in the special day. Younger sister Princess Madeline, chic in a summery knee-length skirt, white jacket and peep-toe shoes, joined her brother Prince Carl Philip in throwing open the doors of the Royal Palace to members of the public. To mark the special day, visitors to the Palace's main hall and the Royal Mews receive a 75 per cent discount on the entrance price. Later in the day, all three meet up with their parents King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia for more celebrations at a televised event in the capital's open air museum.
